Yea ill add one in the next 6 months I just want to get this thing up and running to play all the games ive missed out on 😀. Could the video card I have chose fit since they're dual slot solution cards on the Asus gene II in CF?

Yes, the card will fit but will fill your board, so you'll have no room for any other PCI cards in you build.

Can I ask why you choose a micro-atx for $249, when you can get the ASUS P6T SE for cheaper and have an ATX board?

Is the ASUS P6T SE a good board with future proof/overclocking abilities? Not many review's on this board hmmm :??:

Wow Tecmo34 I just noticed your sig build is really close to mine, besides the hdd and gfx card :)

Found a really good combo on new egg the Asus P6T SE and the i7 920 -40.00 combo! all together with shipping the build is $1,059.76 w/o DVD/CD drive (might bum one off my uncle ha ha) here's the build so far

Thanks for all you're help I really appreciate it! Ill be buying in the beginning of august only have $640 ATM gotta work a few more weeks (i love how highly they pay me) :na:
wasn't planning on spending over $1000

I will really have fun building and OCing the beast i7 and playing all the games Ive missed out on!

If anyone has any parts they think would work better or would just like to comment please go ahead. 😀

I think you're good to go with this build, although I would recommend you hurry on the second 4870 since you will probably not find them at a later time or the 5xxx or the gtx3xx will have a superior price/ratio than your dual 4870's...

I'm currently pretty much into your situation, have about 1k to spend on a pc and have no clue what to buy since the i5's are around the corner and so are the video cards...

I have planned a similar system to yours as an option, but recently I came up to an amazing deal on NewEgg on the AMD counter part which I didn't want to exclude just yet (even though i7's are now worth the money you spend on).

Don't call me fanboy of whatever company, I've had all types of systems and I personally don't care what company made the stuff as long as it's the best bang for the buck at that moment. So let's say you keep all your stuff and we change only the CPU/Board and RAM shall we?

CPU/Board combo @ Newegg
ASUS M4A79 Deluxe 790FX & AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE

Comes out at 310$.
G.Skill 4GB DDR3-1600 C9

63$ with free shipping
And... lets add a... hum? Why not another 4870? Shall we?

at 150$ and 10$ MIR it's a steal...

You pointed out a combo at 450$ before 15$ MIR, and RAM at 120$ before 15$ MIR.

You end paying 570$ (-30$ MIR) for CPU/Mobo/RAM.
On the option I'm offering you, you pay 523$ (-10$ MIR) for a CPU/Mobo/RAM/Second Video card...

Your primary concern is gaming isn't? You will see about 40% faster FPS with a second 4870 rather than with an i7 and still save up ~ 50$.
Also I would like to point you out to this article:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/phenom-versus-i7,2360.html
Keep in mind that you need about 200$ more to your build to achieve the i7 scores while the Phenom II are there already. Heck, you can even add a third and/or fourth (single slot though...) graphics card for massive money wasting lol, although it's not really a pro since past 2 graphic cards scaling is close to 20%/10% per card and the X58 chipset is able to do Xfire as well.

So feel free to give me a heads up on what you think about this alternative, I personally think it's the way to go, with such sweet deals on the boards.

Intel/AMD, it's up to you, but ask your pocket and your gamers 6th sense, are you able to afford 200$ more for and i7 which is a bit better or a bit worse in certain CPU bound games that you'll get over 70 FPS anyways...

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for posting but I'm still sticking with the i7 and after I get it all put together ill go about a month with 1 4870 and then buy another 1 for crossfire. 😀

Ok that works too :)
Just like I said, I'm also building a PC now, although I'm holding off at least two-three more weeks and it'll be watercooled which brings the price up by ~500$...
I just though that with your great job @ 6.55$/hr you would have like to save 200$ and get something that performs about the same. Personally I make 18$/hr and I still think 200$ is a big difference IMHO. Still have you read the article I posted?
AMD has a guaranteed upgrade path with the AM3, I'm seriously worried about what kind of surprise Intel will bring us after the i5's... like... another socket for low-end?

Keep us updated for any other questions you may have :)

Good luck with your build and if you have

Ok Thanks I do like to save money im just sticking with Intel/ATI

Sounds like me and my five yr old........ She kicks my @$$ in several games and has for about year. Right now she is stuck on H.A.W.X.

Haha when I was 5 I didnt even know how to turn a computer on. I was too busy playing in the sandbox and talking to tha ladies lol :na:

She takes after her geek dad. I guess thats what happens when a computer nerd is a single father. Well here is to us all.......... *Drinks a gulp of water* haha you thought I was gonna say beer didnt you.

Ha yea i did. BTW what do you think of my build? :)

Yeah... She is starting to get kills on Quake3 but man does she play a mean game of Candyland!! 😀

lol yeah she has other games of the learning types and she does use them alot. No candyland though 🙁 She probably wouldnt like it. It would amaze you the things this child can do when it comes to games. She has been holding a controller since shhe was 2 1/2 yrs old, I buy the little mini controllers for my games systems for the kids and my ex. Now she has learn about this keyboard thing on the PC ""Very Interesting Daddy"" She says. Ha! I about sht my britches...... Holding a straight face at that moment was like being tickled somewhere you hate and staying still, it just doesnt work ..... ha ha lol Anyway she wants a 360 of her own now....... Oh lord isnt the PC enough **Thinks about myself** NAH

One is never enough!!!!!

As for your system here it looks as if you have done a good job of putting together an i7 rig. The only thing I could ADD on this is, HD 4870x2 Its the way its meant to be played !!!! HEHE :sol:

Other than this it rocks for me mate.

Thanks! I'm glad I have a solid i7 build going for myself Ill be adding another 4870 about a month after i get the build up and ready 😀 Have fun playing the games with you're daughter..don't let her own you too much ha ha :na:
