900 USD Budget gaming PC

Hello all,

I'm looking to build a pc mostly for gaming, school work, programming, and possibly game design. As the title states, I have a 900 dollar budget (before mail-in rebates) and would like to get the most bang for my buck. The OS would not be included but I would like to get a monitor, but it does not have to be one of amazing quality, 1080p 60hz or so.

Thanks for the quick replies. How would an AMD build compare to the Intel for the same price?

eh, all the threads you see on here, you'll see people recommending Intel 85% of the time. They've really slacked behind. The i5 recommended above will do better than the 6350/8320/etc.

Only AMD I can recommend is their GPU's. Their CPU's are behind and only going to get further behind.

How well would the 290 run against the 970 in games in BF4, WoW, Witcher 3, Evil Within etc

The 970 is faster, but the 290 is still a solid card, especially since the price drops.
