Question 9070xt?

Depends what your currently running !

The 9070xt is a compelling product for it price and performance .

Even im thinking of swapping my 7900xtx for one

I would wait for actual 3rd party reviews before pulling the trigger !!

If it does better RT and is close to my 7900xtx in raster i think im going to swap to the 9070 xt

I paid $2000aud for my 7900xtx 2 years ago at the 600 msrp plus AIB increases on the 9070xt if its a close product at maybe $1300aud its a good deal

I get on another forum as well and someone has a good write up. If you have a 7900xt or xtx this may be interesting to you.

A quick look at 3DMark Time Spy scores shows that graphics scores over 34,500 are near the top 1% for the 7900 XTX. It's great that this person's card performs so well, but they are obviously an enthusiast. Everyone with a 7900 XTX should not expect to hit those numbers.
Because I want to use it for at least another 2-3 years, I am limiting my 7900 XTX to 400W now. With that said, the RT numbers do look better than I expected. I currently don't play much RTd games but maybe I should start. Maybe the 7900 XTX will still be the king of raster AND RT for AMD.

Might toss that 6950 onto eBay and see what you can get. Even with it doing that, you might get someone who is willing to try changing pads and thermal paste for a working card.
Hah they can give it a go, i did that when i first got it though, and it helped a bit, it was no longer hitting 94, but that chip is a toasty one, its definitely not one of the better binned ones.

i dont expect it to beat the 7900xtx in raster but if it comes close and beats it in RT then it will be a good swap ..

I also have the reason that the 7900xtx is 2 years old now and feel its time for the upgrade before the price plummets further..

I do hope the 32gb 9070xt is a myth otherwise i will buy Nvidia next gen no doubt !!

If im not sold sold on the 9070xt i will stick with my 7900xtx till next gen cards and Nvidia which i was primed to buy has been more than a cluster **** so really not interested in their products now!!

Sorry Nvidia ive been buying AMD for 8 years now and was ready to switch but you screwed that up !!

Is the 9070xt worth it for price/performance?
I don't get it tbh. The 9070 performs about the same as a 5070, worse in RT and worse again once you turn on RT, DLSS/FSR and frame gen yet people are saying it's a good value and the 5070 is a waste of sand. The XT performs about the same as the 70ti for less but then again once you turn on the technologies the AMD performance and image quality just plummets in comparison to such a point where it's below a 5070 which is cheaper.

MSRP vs. actual cost remains to be seen. In straight raster, the 9070 XT beats the 5070 in several games. It even beats the 5070 Ti in some. Improvements in RT are great but NVIDIA still holds the crown here.

In short, if you can get the 9070 XT, at MSRP, you're getting a great card with a huge 16GB VRAM buffer. The 12GB of the 5070 has been shown, in detail, to be inadequate in today's games.

You ignored half of what I said. Once you turn on DLSS/FSR, because why wouldn't you, the AMD cards falter and then you can add in frame gen and they fall even further behind. You're not buying these cards to play older games, you're playing them to play newer games where things like ray tracing is mandatory. At 600 once you turn all the bells and whistles on the AMD cards tank. The XT should have been 550 and the base should have been 400. They're just not good enough to overcome the advantage in software Nvidia has. Everyone wants AMD to do well but rather than doing a 470/480 type of deal where they undercut Nvidia on price they've basically don the same as they did with the 5700XT and that didn't sell well because they launched a 2060 killer at 2060 super prices. This time they've launched a 5070 killer at 5070 Super prices
