9590fx eight core vs i5 6600k

i5 6600k all the way. Performance/efficiency/thermals/platform.

The FX-9590 is the worst processor ever made by AMD. DO a search on here all you will see is members who have problems with it. On top of that even if you get it working right the i3-6100 outdoes it in most games.

The i5-6600k is the go to gaming processor right now and a far better choice.

Overall I think the AMD FX9000 platform is more expensive anyway. You need a beefy motherboard, a larger power supply, a great CPU cooler.

With Intel you can get away with a mid range air cooler, a relatively cheap motherboard, and and only use about a third of the power that the FX would take and it is still faster. Then if you want to overclock you are spending a little more for a further increase in performance.

Not sure what benchmarks you are using but just about the only thing the 9590 does better than the i5 is 7Zip. If you look at like cpuboss don't waste the time. Thats not a true processor performance benchmark. The only thing the FX 9590 can keep up in is something built to scale over its 8 cores equally, which there really isn't anything.

The i5 being significantly faster in all aspects.

Not really, i5 still beats it out I believe. If you live in the arctic I recommend the 9590, keep you nice and warm at night.

I have a 6600k and my friend has a 8350 (9590 really is just a heavily OC'ed 8350) and my CPU crushes his, Even if he could OC to 5 ghz the i5 would still handily beat it (and he would have to buy a 100 dollar AIO anyways 😛)

That plus the 9590 is known to be a power hog and heat generator - it requires a monster PSU and cooling solution just to keep it running smoothy. And even then it's still not that smooth.
