Hello all!

I am currently finishing up my system for 2019 around an overclocked i9 9900k.

Should I do:

  • 970 EVO PLUS 250GB - OS (Windows 10)
970 EVO 250GB - Progressing project files and media

WD Blue SSD 500GB - Media, resources, ...
Seagate Barracuda HDD 3TB 7200rpm - Archived projects

or

  • 970 EVO PLUS 250GB - Progressing project files and media*
    970 EVO 250GB - OS (Windows 10)*

WD Blue SSD 500GB - Media, resources, ...
Seagate Barracuda HDD 3TB 7200rpm - Archived projects

On which 970 drive should I install the Windows 10? The 970 EVO or the 970 EVO PLUS?

The non-OS 970 drive would be for project files/content of work in progress (to be archived to the 3TB HDD immediately upon completion, freeing up the 970 for the next project).

Hope someone can help!

Thanks,
Chico

The Plus is simply the next iteration of the 970 EVO line.

If they are similar price, get the Plus. Bot don't spend any extra money over the regular EVO on it.

Which one should the OS be on?
In practice or in theory, it makes no difference.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm guessing it won't make a visible difference... but if not in practice, in theory? I have mild OCD with this kind of stuff

Thanks for replying! The thing is I already have all these drives. I just have to choose where to put the OS...

Better to have EVO feeding the project files and media to EVO PLUS (Win10 + software), or the other way around? Or is it really just a "whatever" scenario?

Thanks!

It makes no difference.
1. The performance difference is pretty much zero
2. You are interacting with both drives at the same time anyway
