I currently have two MSI gtx 970's I did not want to lose performance by going to a card that would be weaker than both my cards the day as come with the 1080ti. I am in a awkward position as I don't know realistically how much I should sell each card for is it worth the jump? Should I wait for a price to decrease? I currently have two 144hz 1080p monitors is the 1080ti up for the job. It's amazing to me how I spent around $400 bucks on each card and now I saw someone selling one for $100 and change. Please advise me.

For pricing, check craigslist and ebay, seems they get bit up to close to $200, sort by ending soonest and check.

Gaming on two monitors is not good, you have a big break right in the middle of the screen, so really you have a single 1080 monitor. For 144hz at 1080, a 1070 is just fine for very high settings in games.

The question is, why are you looking to upgrade from your cards now? They are still pretty good for new games, even at 144hz at 1080.

I primarily game on one monitor but from a productivity standpoint I use at least two daily. For everything I'm moving away to getting a second 144hz monitor for uniformity and keeping the tv as a primary movie and media monitor. The 144hz to 60hz is more annoying than one might think.

The setup will go like this
o (60hz TV)
XX (two 144hz)
