Hello guys,

My first post here so thank you for all the answers .

My question is I have an opportunity to get a gtx 1070G1 used for £240 and currently I have a 970 which is up for sale for around £130 so all in all I'll pay 100 for the upgrade , it may sound silly for me to ask and rather I be there now to pick it up but my question is I've had my eyes on the ti version which goes for around 300 pounds .

Do you guys reckon I should go for this buy right now ?, is this a steal for you guys if you had the choice ? Or would you wait for a ti version and pay that extra in just stuck in the middle and don't want to make a choice I regret after a week or so.

Could I please have your opinions?.

Many thanks

If you are playing at 1080p, then I would just stick with the 1070. I dont know if you need extra horsepower of the 1070ti for 1080p. As for the jump from the 970, it will be pretty good. Around 30-50% better fps in games.

I would worn against buying a 1070 used however unless it is a very good deal. Many 1070's are available on the used market are cards used for mining. So they have been worked very hard and you dont know how they were taken care of.

I have both and more lol. I own or owned every single Nvidia card since the GTX 280...

The only major benefit of the 1070 or a 970 is it has more memory, so bigger scenes (when playing at 2K) like Battlefield 1 can render max textures at max distance. If the card exceeds 3gb of vram at 2K than just turn down the details slightly (ultra to high). I promise the card itself has enough balls to run anything at 2K (polygon wise).

Here is a review of the 1070. In the 15 games that were tested the 1070 averaged 111fps at 1080p and the 970 averaged 68fps at 1080p. At 1440p it was 77 to 49. I dont know about you, but that is a significant jump in fps at 1080p. There is a huge difference between the cards.

Ah... I did forget to factor in reviews use the newest and faster hardware configurations. On my old i7 3960X at the time, the two were nearly identical. You have to remember not everyone has the faster computer on the market. So those extra frames are non-existent for many people. Just because a car can go 120mph, doesn't mean people can drive faster than 60 on the highway :)

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. But the 1070 is on average 55% faster than the 970. Any "VS" video will show you that. And from my experience, there's a lot greater difference than that. Have a good day.
