I asked a similar question earlier involving my 970 and 9800 gt as physx. (1gb 9800 btw)

Could I use the the 9800 GTin addition to my 980 TI to decrease render times in Maya/3dsMax/Cinem4d/Maxwell Render/Octane?

What if I use my old 7950? I would have to stick to OpenGL renderers but would I see a performance increase? (if you have any fav OpenGL renderers, lemme know).

What if I used my 980ti, old 7950 and old 7770? Or 980 ti, 7950 and 9800gt?

Solution
As the 9800GT only has 112 shader cores compared to the 2816 on the 980ti, it would barely make a difference if you could use it along side for anything. An AMD 7950 would be much better for rendering but getting 2 cards from 2 different manufactures to play nice in the same software is not something easily done.

From a quick search Octane renderer says it can support multiple cards howerver: https://home.otoy.com/render/octane-render/faqs/

I think I might have to do a long overdue PSU upgrade and do some benchmarking.
