I have been asking a few questions over the past few weeks since my gpu has issues keeping cool. All my case temps are good and I have followed all guides here to setup airflow. My gpu put hot air into the case. Its getting up to 80-85 while gaming. I did a new fan curve and that helped. but here is my new question. When i set it all to default my gpu downclocks and upclocks a lot which I assume is normal. but when I am gaming it will take fan speeds to 45% max even if i turn down the goal temp to 75. the issue is it will downclock before turning fans up

it runs really cool then but is too loud. wondering why it downclocks before auto tuning fan speed..it refuses to go above 45% fans on default.

I guess ill have to do a manual curve but really think it should put them up higher on auto

that's how it works you get thermal throttling or power throttling

if you look [google] you can see some guys showin there 900 cards throttle as low as 60-64c then you got to look at NVidia gpu boost [gpu boost 2.0 for a 900 series] all this is set in the cards bios

this is why for the 900 cards a water block or hybrid was in demand and hard to get / find some models did not even get one made for it like by EK

I got a 980 ti hybrid never see thermal throttling with it seeing my card at highest max temps are only 48c average at full load 45c

also at 85c is about where you will see throttling

a of course good old luck of the draw comes in to play on how each card will handle all that

I guess i can just let it ride and not worry. it gets to 80 in gaming but i wanted it lower..no worries i guess.
