980ti compatibility question

Will a GTX 980ti be compatible with a Gigabyte 970a-ds3p mobo and a 600W Aerocool PSU?
Also does my CPU and ram matter?

I would not recommend running a gtx 980ti on that PSU, It is fairly low quality and it would probably be overloaded with an amd CPU and a 980ti. other than that it is compatible but the CPU does matter as it would bottleneck the GPU if it is too weak, if you have an 8350 you should be fine.

If you do not own this computer then let me do the entire thing for you. Just give me a budget and do you need an OS/monitor/peripherals? where do you live? what are you using it for?

I have a FX 6300 Black running as base clock with 16GB of 1866mhz Hyper X Ram
It's just irritating because my crappy GTX 650 is bloody awful

Your Ram is more than enough, but you will be pairing an older mid range cpu with a very high end, new Gpu. It will work though and you will see a large performance increase.

So I should do it and just make the jump to Intel later with an i5 46/790k?

I would yes, either the 4690k or i7 4790k would be excellend ( especially the i7 if you do other Cpu strenuous tasks.

I have the Aerocool Integrator 600W, Since the recommended power supply is 600W I'll leave it last in line since I only get 35 pounds a week

A PSU could be rated for 500 watts and completely fry at 250

That happens to be a very poor power supply and may be rated for 600 watts but i would not EVER put a 980ti on it, You risk desroying your GPU and your system but it is your loss.

Not all PSUs are created equally.
