980ti or 1070 vs 1080

I'm currently rocking a 970 in my build with a 6600k. Since the release of the 1080 I've been saving a bit of money, and I've been wondering if it is really worth it to buy the 1080 and not the 980ti.

I've seen the benchmarks and there's only and there's only really a 20-30fps difference at ultra settings, which I don't always play on.

So to my next question, the 980ti and 1070 are pretty much the same price range (£20 difference maybe) and the 980ti beats it out in benchmarks.

So is it really worth it or shall I buy the 980ti?

Only upgrade if the games you're currently playing aren't running as smoothly as you wish. Otherwise, save your money for the day when you know for sure it's time to upgrade. Upgrading now, just to upgrade, would be silly.

ONLY a 20-30 fps difference?! That's a huge difference in performance!

At first you mention the 1080 and now you say 1070, not sure which card you mean exactly. But the 1070 and 1080 beats the 980ti according to all the reviews I've seen. Plus, the 1070 is a MUCH more efficient GPU and has 8 GB of VRAM, where the 980ti has only 6 GB..

So is it really worth it or shall I buy the 980ti?

Go with the newer GPUs. A 1080 or a 1070. Either one will be a nice upgrade over your 970.
