Just built a new computer and everything went well, looking at temps after being on a few hours realized a problem. Modern Warfare mission getting temps to 100c and on idle around 60c. Got a dark rock pro 4 be quiet cooler on the cpu. Msi drivers are annoyng but I believe they are up to date. Anything else to try before I have to rip it open again.

What clock speeds are you hitting on all 8 cores under load?

'Stock Intel operation' would be 4.7 GHz under all core loads...; if your all-core clocks are higher, you are not running 'stock' and perhaps your cooling is not adequate.

If you have bumped core voltage up in conjunction with any mainboard preset OC-schemes, or are using MCE (which will attempt to boost to 5 GHz on all cores) that could easily overwhelm an air cooler...(assuming it is properly/evenly locked down with a think film of thermal compound, no stickers left on, etc.)

(There is indeed a reason so many have recommended large AIOs at a minimum, or custom loops/pumps w/ 360mm radiators for these CPUs...)

Yes im getting 4.7 clock speed, and I havent done any overclocking voltage is around 1.2. I did just find a driver update for the chipset and the highest temp I got in the same mission was 86c but still for 10 minutes of playing almost 90c is not good.
