Hey ppl.

I want to buy a GP-600A HP Green PSU to provide power only for a GTX980TI. I mean this PSU is not gonna be attached to CPU, Motherboard and stuff. I want to provide power directly to my GTX980Ti using a separate Green PSU. Will directly plugging my GPU to the PSU and plugging the PSU to the power socket work ok? or the PSU must be connected to a Motherboard to receive BIOS commands for firing up?

This card will be overclocked as well so since I wanted to provide it`s power separately. wanted to also make sure having a PSU that gives it enough Wattage and Amperage.

Solution
Well that is the problem with these small fancy looking gaming cases. They are really not marketed for people to mess with them and having a extra ugly PSU lying around on the outside makes the purchase sort of mute.
Might as well rebuild in a proper case!

Well you got your answer above you need a jumper for the power good signal (same as paper clip test) for the extra PSU to run.
I have a G20AJ gaming case and I run a GTX980Ti on it. Problem is the stoke Asus 230W PSU for the GPU is not strong enough and I also tried using a Dell 330w PSU which was a total B.S . The moment you overclock it or card want some more power it goes to safe mode.

So thats why I wanted to use a PSU like case PSU`s for this to give my card enough power, amperage and wattage.

Why do you think its a bad idea?

Tnx for the info, So the part that I should be doing is inserting a paper clip into those green and black pin holes to make the power work directly like my current 230 and 330 W PSU right? is that all? and then I can plug the power sockets to my GTX980Ti and enjoy?

Well I would use insulated wire! My newest EVGA G2 PSU came with a plug that does the same thing.

Instead of the clip? yeah thats not the best choice I would make either.

Deeply appreciate your kind and prompt responses rolli59.

The reason why I chose this case was because I had no access to up-to-date PC parts or a trusted vendor.

Later when I try to assemble a new rig, I`ll be consulting here, maybe with you :)

Happy 2016, all the best.
