Is going to 500hz overclock safe instead of being at 480? It is built into the monitor.

If I use GSYNC what is the difference in-game if the fps is uncapped and getting frames well over 500 compared to capping it at 500 fps in-game?

Appreciate the help/support.

What is driving the requirement to overclock from 480 to 500hz?

Increase fps?

What game(s)?

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Overall, it is unlikely that the performance difference will be noticeable from the end user point of view.

Perhaps because of some other component or configuration that limits (AKA "bottlenecks") performance.

Or even if performance happens to measurable or simply noticeably improve it is likely that there is some trade-off that is less than beneficial to the host system.

More information needed.

I play Counter-Strike. I understand the difference between 480 and 500 is minimal, I am wondering if going to the 500hz overclock that is built into the monitor is bad. Posted the link above.

Do you know the answer to the GSYNC question? If I cap my FPS in-game to say 500 which is the refresh rate of the monitor, what would the difference be if I leave it uncapped where it goes much higher with GSYNC still on?

GSYNC ON @ 500fps capped in-game compared to GSYNC ON @ uncapped FPS at times going much higher
