I have checked the box in "folder Options"/"View" to "Remember each
folder's view settings". However, almost always when I open the control
panel it opens in "detail" mode, even though I always set it to Large
Icons, resize it and close it cleanly. This is also true (all though
not quite as consistent) with a couple of folders of shortcuts which I
have on the desktop. They not only fail to remember the settings, but
they frequently change the desktop icon from the one I set.

Is there a fix for this weird behavior?

The Default for Windows XP is to remember the view settings for the 400 most
recently used folders.

Line #2 - Increase Folder View Size Limit to 8000

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

Howdy stranger! Long time no see. I trust you and Sandy are OK? I don't post
in the NWC groups as much as I'd like to these days, but it's good to see
you around.

All the best for 2005.
