A good network card?

Occasionally, I have to connect to a hotspot that's a block away from my house. I know this can be done because my ZTE Zmax 2 phone and my Lenovo G50 laptop can connect perfectly. I recently got a TP LINK AC1300 for my desktop, thinking that would be better than the Asus N53 I was using before. However, it still had trouble connecting, so I was wondering what network card I could get that would fit my needs. I believe the current issue is that the hotspot is too far away, so I would need a network card with really good range.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Likely the answer is non of the above. Part of the problem with a internal card is the case is blocking the signal from a couple of directions.

Since this is remote to your house the best option is likely a device designed for this application called a outdoor directional wireless bridge.

A example of one would be a engenius enh202 but there are many models. This one uses 2.4g but you can get 5g and even 802.11ac if the hotspot supports it. You can also look at devices from ubiquiti. You can get huge antenna like a airgrid AG-HP-2G20 that is suppose to go 20km...I doubt it but it will go quite a ways. All these devices are in the same price range as a good wireless nic card and will perform much better especially if you would...
