A GPU Back-plate

If I was to buy a gpu with a back-plate on it it would hit my ram hold downs, so my question is do I need the back-plate on it will it matter if I run the card without it? SAPPHIRE NITRO Radeon R9 380

So I can get 2 cards in 1 if I remove it?

it would probably be cheaper to buy it with out the back plate if you are only going to remove it any way

I just looked at both you listed, and they both show same dimensions. So it's just for aesthetics the back-plate then?

for aesthetics and to stop the card flexing and to cool the rear of the card a bit

mine came close but i put the ram in first before the gpu and it just cleared it

though different motherboards will be slightly different how much clearance you have i guess

Well I thank you for the help, and I have found out I wasted like 40 dollars I got it because I did not know they make 2, this is my case http://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-MicroATX-Tower-Computer-FBM-01/dp/B005LIDU5S/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1458166426&sr=1-5&keywords=pc+case not much viewing unless I get a flashlight to see the dang back-plate

thats a bummer--i think the backplate for mine was £15

you might be able to resell the backplate on ebay to get some of it back
