But magic can control dreams...

I'm just hoping they don't be idiots and charge $1000 for it because they think they can. Dell needs to charge what's reasonable (ie < $500), which they sometimes have a problem with.

It's an interesting concept for sure as it unifies two devices with limited usefulness into a single product. As long as the pricing isn't iPad + Dell mini, this could have some use.

Actually, the ipad is powered by a tiny furnace inside that burns money directly from your pocket.

[citation][nom]viewroyal[/nom]Describing this netbook as "innovative" is like saying that removing one of your car's four wheels is an innovation....[/citation]
This was precisely my thought the first time I saw it. Particularly the uber-thick screen bezel. Brought back the cringeworthy days of the first EeePC. >< And the mess with the webcam just seals the deal for me.

I'll be keeping a close eye out on this one just in case Dell decides to do a 180 on the design, but I'll probably just be going for a competitor at this point. There's undoubtedly going to be a plethora of convertible tablet netbooks with dual core Atom's or even the low power Core-i processors in the coming future. I just hope these retarded designers get off the capacitive touchscreen bandwagon. I rather have stylus support with half decent finger use rather than finger only use and no precision (Yeah, I know there's styluses out there for cap-screens but the precision is just not there. Almost impossible to do a fine tipped cap stylus. Like trying to draw with a pencil eraser.)

this design fails at rigidity and any real use over time... can you imagine how many snapped off broken displays dell will be getting back? hopefully the warranty is good LOL

IMO they failed in design... cause they could have come up with a cam action hinge to move to the other side of the netbook, and make something to slide and close the keyboard for example or little feet or stand offs etc... (that pop in and out)

seriously im a MFG and not even a "designer" and see from a mechanical point of view the fail LOL

id never use it for touchscreen so this would be a waste for me. look at all those finger smudges, you can see them in the video all over.

Multi touch? Maybe Multi Bad Touch? Or is that the worst thing you could possibly call a tablet?.. What about Pixel Qi or TouchQi (Touchkey?). If Dell went for Atom, they might as well go all the way, especially if they wanted a Netbook/Tablet hybrid, why not also make it an eReader? It's better to be more for less than less for more (justifying price). They're also only a mini-PCIe SSD & ION with optimus away from performance & power saving. If a 1.8" HDD is used for storage, factory image, & extra virtual memory. The OS & programs can run on a small, cheap mini-PCIe SSD. They could also add a linux Quick Start/Splashtop, like Lenovo, running Puppy Linux purely in RAM, to have a full OS (Unlike Quick Start/Splashtop), or maybe an OS designed solely to function as an eReader, or even Windows, Puppy, & eReader, giving people all 3 in one. As for connectivity, an optional mifi is better for many reasons, it has it's own power supply, the connection can be easily shared w/o the PC having to also be on, & it wouldn't consume space inside the Netbook.

[citation][nom]DjEaZy[/nom]... so? where is facetime...? how mutch i know facetime is openspurce... i wanted to see a facetime call between iPhone an Dell...[/citation]
Are you serious?

[citation][nom]joytech22[/nom]Stupid Atom.. I mean there's been alternatives like Nvidia Tegra since what, 2008? Much higher performance and "comparable" power usage makes ION or Tegra SO much better. But this is still a cool netbook, and if it was running a ION or Tegra chipset, i'd get one (no point other than the screen that i can see, plus i have a netbook..)[/citation]

1. That 'thing' was running Windows. Tegra cannot run Windows regardless of how powerful it is.

2. You can either use ION or you can use a faster Atom processor but you can't use both. I guess Dell chose to go with a more recent Atom processor and Intel graphics.

We are witnessing reverse evolution here. Products are getting slower and crappier. WTF would I use this thing for? It's a small notebook that is woefully underpowered and probably way too expensive for the price I'm going to pay. Why are people shitting the bed to deliver touch screen mobile products?
