EVGA Gtx 1060 6GB Superclocked is £60 cheaper than the strix but comes to almost as high frequency boost on the factory overclock although only comes with 1 fan which im guessing results in thermal throttling sooner or later down the line while the stix with its 3 fans and arguably best cooler on the market gives the card all it needs and more plus longevity from what I predict. Plus RGB.

If you agree or disagree let me know and suggest which one you think is worth it over all for a PC build that wont need an upgrade/ replacement for 4 or more years to come.

Gpu lifespan is really only determined by usage. I'm still running a gtx660ti on my wife's pc, and prolly will for another few years. That's because it's not needed for running AAA games, it handles the few online mmorpg's I play just fine, as well as my daughters Sims and Fifa. It also happens to be a Asus dc20 model pushing a 23% above factory OC. You won't get that on the lower end models, the coolers can't handle the heat. And that's the biggest difference between the Strix and the SC, the Strix has arguably one of the best coolers around. Same goes for the MSI armor 2 vrs the Gaming X, the Gaming X uses 5x 8mm heatpipes vrs the armors 4x 7mm, also uses the twin-frozr fans vrs regular, basically translating into significantly better...

If you are going to keep the card for a long time, get the strix.

There is no way on the planet the strix is worth the premium price tag.

Ignore the base clocks, that 100mhz difference between models isn't going to make barely any difference

Go for an investment like the msi armor x twin fan at £230

Or in all fairness the oc model is an incredible buy at the minute.

I don't think any current gpu will really last 4 years in all honesty,if this was really your plan I personally think a 580 8gb will offer a longer useable lifespan.

I played it smart and waited until black friday got myself a bargain deal, I got my strix 1060 6GB OC for £273 when it was going for £330
It was 228 without tax on top 20% damned uk

the 1060 is 120watt TDP. the SC comes with good cooler under the shroud and does very good job at cooling the card.
there is no practical reason to overpay 60 pounds for strix over SC. in fact there are very few 1060 like zotac mini, EVGA Gaming (non SC) and some palit cards that i'd not recommend to get regardless of the price due to "bad" cooler.
basically, the best GTX 1060 is the one with lowest price tag and decent cooling. for the most part it happens to be the RX 580 4GB - same performance for much less money.

Is the £60 worth it? Depends on who you are and what you do with the gpu. If it's just a card to use, then no, the Evga is a much more solid value, but if you are the person who likes to push the envelope with OC, wants max performance out of the card and that extra 5-10 fps, then yes it is worth it. It's really a choice only you personally can make, as it's a choice based on you, the user.
