Let's think that I have a 60hz freeSync monitor. Could it be possible to play above 60 fps with freeSync on and benefit from freeSync or does freeSync lock fps to monitor's highest refresh rate?

Solution
If your game hits 60 or above the monitor will stay at 60hz eg. if your game hits 85 fps then your monitor Hz will stay at 60
if the game then drops down to 50 the freesync sets the hz of the monitor to match the 50 fps in your game.
Freesync does the opposite, it unlocks the refresh rate of the monitor so that it syncs with the output from your GPU
when your game is running at ,lets say, 56 fps, freesync will try to match the refresh-rate of the monitor to the fps of the game

Your monitor however can not push out extra frames when your game might over 60.
if you have a 60hz freesync monitor dont expect it to suddenly give you more than 60Hz.

For example, what happens if I hit 80fps? Monitor stays then at 60hz but I won't benefit from freesync? Or can I even hit over 60fps with freesync on?
