i have another post up asking for recommendations on a good gaming case. typically a case will have 1-2 fans in the front, 1-2 fans on top, and one fan in the back. now my question pertains to the cases with a fan on the side. how important would that fan bee for cooling?

my current build plan would have me using the phenom II x4 955 and eventually 2 amd radeon 6870's. i know these components can put out some heat but with a case that has the standard (non side fan) cooling would it be properly ventilated or would that extra side fan show a major difference in case temp?

It really depends on the case, there are many cases with front and rear fans that show an increase in temps with a side fan added as it messes with the airflow of the case, a top fan, back fan, and one or two front fans should be more than enough to keep your case cool, a side fan wont make a significant difference.
