A question on memory

after studying my current configuration for my soon to be built system, i saw the mobo supports up to 1866 Mhz dual channel, I want to get the 2000 Mhz dual channel sticks, will the memory work at 1866 if it has to..and can the mobo be pushed to 2000 even if its not "supported"? thanks for any advice.

Yes RAM rated at 2000 Mhz. will run at slower speeds. The mobo is tested to run RAM at 2000 Mhz. OC'ed but it depends on if your CPU is willing to operate the RAM at that frequency.

As an example Deneb Phenom II CPUs will not run RAM @ 2000 MHz. but some Thurban Phenom II CPUs will. More than likely with Bulldozer's default 1866 Mhz. RAM speed it will be able to run @ 2000 Mhz. but in reality there is less than 1% increase in system performance OC'ing DDR3 RAM 300-600 Mhz.
