Hi guys! It must be near 10 years of time that I have lurked the forums here, usually finding an answer regarding PC hard/software questions.

This time I am going to directly ask you about a big time hardware renovation. So I am running a rig with the following specs:

GPU: a few months old asus 1070 ti cerberus 8gb
CPU: ages old core i5 3570K, stock memory & clockspeed
RAM: 16gb of HyperX ripjaws, DDR3
MOBO: some asus model from the z77-family
POWER: Corsair's some model, 750 volts
MEMORY: 1TB of some ancient HDD
Lastly, I am operating on Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit

At this point I reckon it's clear that my GPU is entirely in a different league and thats what I am looking help with. My 4-year old GTX 770 started coughing so I got the 1070 ti a few months back. I can't recall the complete model names of all components I am using but I hope the info above provides enough.

To the point, I'm looking for help in upgrading my MOBO/CPU/RAM set to brand new, also the HDD has to go so good SSD disk suggestions are welcome. As for RAM, 16gb DDR4 is what I am looking for. CPU-wise, some meaty yet relatively affordable powerhouse. The motherboard itself doesn't concern me, just need to upgrade it too so I can connect everything. Probably not going to clock the CPU so a locked model isn't an issue. Also I welcome suggestions concening internal cooling for the new components.

My budget is around 1200€ ($1350)
My knowledge about pc building isn't on a level of an engineer but I can manage building and tending of my own set up.

Thanks in advance!
~Nick

Upgrading your motherboard may be a good option but first see the highest CPU your current motherboard can go to but I'd say CPU and MOBO as you probs won't have enough for a graphics card and MOBO and CPU
I believe the current board doesn't support anything of the newer cpu models, or not at least something I have in mind. I'm sorry if I was unclear in my post, but Im happy with the GPU I have. Mainly I need help with choosing the new components.

Planning on wasting $500 on the CPU, around 350 on the mobo, the rest of the budget is for SSD and RAM. Don't mind if I go over the budget like 100 bucks.

If you are not on a hurry you should wait for the ryzen 3rd gen to drop prices are already going down.
If you are not that fan of intel a ryzen 2nd gen should be good as well.
And do you mind mentioning the modal of your 750 power supply?

And i guess something like this would work if you are on a hurry:

Currently on my way to work but once I'm home I'll try to dig up the model name. Thanks!

I would go along something like this, with a motherboard with decent VRMS so you can get a 8 core CPU later if you want.

by the way what monitor do you currently have? no use upgrading the delivery of high fidelity graphics if it looks like mush.
Recently got a Samsung 27" C27396 since the reseller had some insane sales, paid a 100 bucks for it. Normally around 250. Using some literally 10 year old BenQ 24" monitor as a 2nd monitor. I'm content with one monitor but just hooked up the old BenQ for fun's sake.

well, only 60 hz though but should be fine for your "rig" although I would have liked it to be 144hz.
Yeah, honestly 144hz would be a nice touch. It was originally my plan but I just figured I'd do a "duct tape fix" and upgrade the old ass BenQ to this one as its only 100 bucks. After this upgrade project I might look into some new monitors.

I did some research and I'm quite positive that the psu model is Corsair's CX750M. Age is roughly 2 years.

Alright, thanks for the help guys. Been reading the thread as much as I've had time, and I've come up with a possible plan. I'd wish to hear opinions about it.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
MB: Asus ROG Strix X470 (either the F or the I model)
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 16 gb
SSD: Samsung EVO 860 1 TB

This would roughly be about $1k and the only thing missing would be a compatible CPU cooler. Please do tell your raw take on this.

3700X is listed as $329, but maybe 10% faster, i'd say $150 more. I can't see you having a problem getting CPU/MOBO/RAM/SSD within your budget, should be easy.
Alright, thanks alot! Did you agree on the RAM and SSD choices? From what I've dug up on various places it seems Samsung's EVO disks are the usual go to product.
