A Virus Has My Computer Hostage

I'm not going to lie I was attempting to use a link a friend had sent me that turned out to be a not so legit download. I didn't know that when I clicked on it & as soon as it started downloading my laptop started throwing up all sorts of error messages & notifications about my firewall being off & such. I short moment after that I got the blue screen of death. It restarted several times & would let me get as far as entering my password to log in before it went right back to the blue screen. Like I said, this happened several times.

After that it attempted to perform a startup repair, this has never worked & it gets stuck in an endless loop of "Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC".
I've Googled solutions & tried every single one of them multiple times, there's always something that doesn't work as it should. I tried removing the battery & hard drive, putting them back & booting the laptop. I've made a Windows 10 installation disc & tried to repair it that way or even do a fresh installation.

One thing that I'm not quite sure how I did is that I made a different "volume" from the one that's got the virus. While this new volume seems to work well it doesn't have anything that was installed or saved on my C drive from the original volume. And when I get to a point where I might be able to log into the original volume I type in my password & it says it's invalid. I really feel like the virus changed my password. Unfortunately my account is the only one on this laptop & it's the admin account.

What should I do here? Should I try to replace the HDD (if so, is there some way to transfer my saved files from the infected drive to the new one?) Should I just buy a totally new computer because this one's been sentenced to death?

My laptop is only a year old, it's an Asus ROG GL552VW-DH74

Solution
I took my laptop to a pc repair company nearby & the guy who worked on it said that he couldn't just get rid of the virus. So he saved my files & such(everything I couldn't replace or re-install) & basically factory restarted it.

It's working just fine now & I've got my pictures & documents & such.

I'm not entirely sure. I believe so if that's where it gives me the option of Troubleshoot, Reset & such. I can't log into the original volume at all.

I don't have any saved backups unfortunately, no earlier save points either.
