Question A Windows 11-compatible replacement for an LGA 1151 system ?

I'm currently running a system based on a Gigabyte z170x-Gaming 7 motherboard and an LGA 1151 i7-7700K@4.2 Ghz. The problem lies in the fact that this motherboard does not have the TPM 2.0 feature needed for "native" support of Windows 11. As a result, I'm having to rely on drivers which are outdated. I have tried several times to update those drivers, but invariably, when I do, the system goes blooey, and I have to use a System Restore point to get my PC back up and running.

Because of all of this, I would like to replace the motherboard with one that DOES have TPM 2.0 so that I can run Windows 11 Pro without any difficulty. For financial reasons, I need to reuse the CPU, RAM, etc., as far as possible, Can anyone suggest a suitable LGA 1151 replacement motherboard? Thanks in advance!

As far as the drivers go Gigabyte has drivers up to Windows 10 that will work for Windows 11.

Or are these the ones you are working with that your trying to update.

If your not having an issue with them there fine being a little out of date.

It's your GPU driver you would want to have up to date.

Is there a specific issue your having that is making you need to find newer drivers.

Just to let you know even If you did find a 1151 motherboard that has the TPM you still can't use the i7-7700K as it's not on the list of CPU's that can run Windows 11 from Microsoft.

You would still have to do the install bypass to ignore the TPM issue/ not supported CPU.

Not supported.
Windows 11 support starts with Intel 8th gen cpus.
i7-7700K is not supported.

You will have to change cpu also.
OK, thanks for the reply. Here's a complete list of what I'm running currently:

Can you suggest a good motherboard and CPU combination that would allow me to reuse as much of this hardware as possible while still maintaining acceptable performance? Thanks again for your assistance!

Depends on your budget.
You have to look for motherboard/cpu combo that supports DDR4.
Latest gen hardware from Intel and AMD supports DDR5 only.
Since I'm on Social Security, I do have to be somewhat careful. As of right now, $300.00 would be the absolute maximum I can justify. I've been checking Amazon, Newegg, and even eBay. I also plan on checking a local shop or two. Again, thanks for your assistance!

Your budget severely limits your options.
Also - probably your current cpu cooler will not support a different socket. Will need a cpu cooler also.

Something like this would work. A bit over budget though.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: Intel Core i7-12700K 3.6 GHz 12-Core Processor ($209.98 @ GameStop)
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X 120 Refined SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler ($17.89 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock B660M Pro RS Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard ($79.98 @ Amazon)
Total: $307.85
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Thanks for the suggestion! Just to cover all the possibilities, how much would an AMD-based combo cost? Again, I appreciate your willingness to assist me!

OK, so mediumly powerful.

Otherwise, I might have suggested a small $300 prebuilt system.
I should explain that I am very happy with my system's performance. The problem lies in the fact that, since it does not "natively" support Windows 11, any time I try to update my device drivers, the system goes blooey, and I have to use a system restore point to get the system back up and running. Quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of not being able to keep my PC at maximum performance and security without risking a total system collapse! Thanks again for helping me out--I DO appreciate it!

How are you doing this "update my device drivers" process?
Are you using some 3rd party software for this?

More likely it's a problem with this software (not windows 11).
I use Driver Booster by Iobit. I've used their products for years, and they've always given me good service. The problems didn't start until I got my current system. A friend in my church who is experienced in such matters has told me that the problem lies in the fact that the motherboard does not have the TPM 2.0 feature that Windows 11 requires.. I do know that, when this problem occurs, the motherboard setup screen reports "ROM image not updated" and "ROM image update denied." Also, Windows 11's BSOD reports a stop code of "IRQL not less than or equal to," and references "iestore.sys," or something similar. Nothing like this ever happened with any of my earlier systems, most all of which were also equipped with Iobit's software. Also, none of Iobit's other software packages are giving me any problems now.

I have just recently determined that there IS a TPM 2.0 socket on the Gigabyte Z-170X Gaming-7 motherboard I am currently using. It's a 20-pin socket. I have also found a number of 20-pin TPM modules on Amazon. Would any of those modules enable my system to run Windows 11? If so, can anyone tell me which one would do the best job in this regard? If I obtain the right module and plug into the socket, would it then run Windows 11 successfully, or would replacing the CPU chip still be necessary? If the latter, what CPU would do the best job? Again, thanks in advance!
