Hi Guys,

I know there are several threads out there regarding the A10 7850k & GTX 750 ti combo. I was just hoping for some further clarification.

I've recently upgraded to a GTX 970 and am planning on donating my GTX 750ti (windforce) to my buddy.

His system is currently:
A10 7850k
8gb @1600

So my question is two fold- He is planning on upgrading to 8gb @ 2133 and leveraging my 750ti.

If he uses my 750ti does that negate the benefit of the 2133ram? Also, Will we have to disable the integrated graphics? If so, is that easy? Done simply through the BIOS?

Thanks a lot guys!!

Well, to be clear, you don't need to really disable the IGP specifically if I'm not mistaken. Restart the computer, go into the BIOS, find the graphics section, make sure you set the computer to 'init PCIe graphics first'. Then save/exit the bios, turn the computer off. Plug in the 750ti into the motherboard. Connect the monitor to the 750ti. Turn the computer on, and you should have the 750ti light up the monitor.

Then - it'll come up into basic VGA mode. Download and install the nvidia drivers. Reboot.

There isn't much point to buy the higher clock RAM, it has essentially no effect on performance so it might be a good idea to avoid buying unless your buddy really likes the looks of it. If they didn't have a graphics card originally, it should be a huge increase in performance for them. You don't need to disable the integrated graphics since the PC should automatically switch to the graphics card once you have plugged it in and installed the drivers.

EDIT: Just watched a video from NCIX Tech Tips and found out about RAM speeds with the integrated graphics. "The Grox Empire" was right about it.

Yes but since he already have that 2133 RAM just keep it. faster memory will improve IGPU but it's not useless when you didnt use IGPU. Some benchmarks prove a very little performance incerase and loading time decerase using faster memory , but it doesnt noticeable. About disabling IGPU make sure you Uninstall your IGPU driver then connect the card then you can install new Nvidia driver.

Agreed - the benefit in increasing RAM speed is usually best applied towards an IGP setup. By using the 750ti - you're mitigating the main reason for the faster RAM in the first place. If you were using a Hybrid crossfire compatible card (ie: Radeon card) you could have had some of the benefit of it, but by going with an nVidia card (a pretty decent one - the 750ti is no slouch for it's power envelope) - that's off the table.

He's better off sticking with the 1600mhz ram, save the money.

No significant benefit to faster RAM if you are using discrete graphics.
AMD and NVIDIA Gpus don't work together, so you will lose the AMD Gpu and the display port on the motherboard.
You can't disable the IGP in BIOS, but in AMD control center you can disable it.
Don't uninstall the control center or you lose some of the CPU benefits.

Thanks for all the help guys!

So to be clear, Go into AMD control center, disable the IGP, plug in the 750ti, download drivers, play video games?

Seems pretty simple!!
