Well, after spending half my day searching google and developing a migraine, I thought I'd reach out for help. Here are my system specs:

APU : A6-7400K
RAM: 4 GB 1600mHz
Motherboard: GA-F2A88XN-WIFI
OS: Windows 8.1
PSU: Silverstone SFX
Using an HDTV for a monitor

The display is working, although I notice the resolution looks very sketchy. It says 1080p but not to my eyes, text is all distorted. When starting up a game like minecraft or gravitybone, I get an error message about not being about not detecting hardware acceleration, here is a screenshot from gravitybone:

When playing a new game like Among the Sleep, the only way I can even get it too run at ~1FPS is by putting all settings on low and resolution at 480p. This APU should be at least capable of handling these games on low settings so I knew something was wrong.

My monitor shows as "Generic Monitor". I've uninstalled and then reinstall Catalyst driver software (trying versions 13.12 through the latest beta version) with and without CCC about a dozen times with no luck. It seems to not install the video card drivers. In device manager it shows "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" as the only display driver. I think it should say "Radeon R5 Series" or likewise. I've tried updating the driver manually but it wont recognize any other hardware. CPU-Z shows the basic display adapter aswell under the graphic section. Here is a screenshot summarizing all of this:

I have no idea what could be causing this now. I feel like Ive tried everything that others have tried on this problem. The only amazon review for this APU mentions downloading drivers from AMD made games playable when they werent before. He doesn't mention where to get these though, and it seems I've tried every driver.

I'm at my wits end, anybody have any ideas? Please! Built this computer for a friend and so far hes super dissapointed in it. I dont know if it's related but I am also not able to play sound through HDMI (shows not plugged in in playback devices).

It's alive!!! I hope this thread helps anyone in the future having similar problems.

The problem (for the video and audio) seemed to be that I had a 32-bit operating system or that I was running Windows 8.1. I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 64-bit, then installed all the gigabyte drivers (minus the realtek audio driver), then I installed AMD's driver auto detect program and it got me the proper Catalyst software and drivers for my APU. After a reboot, the resolution was a crisp 1080p, my headache went away and I even heard sound! I booted up gravity bone and it went into the game full steam, no glitching. So goddamn happy

Thanks for the help troubleshooting people!
