Hi all,

Does anyone know about how much the Athlon64 3200+ can be oc'ed on (non-stock and stock) air cooling? I was planning on using a venus 12 if I went with non-stock. I'm trying to decide if I want to spend the money on the new DFI Ut nf3 board (The "Best" A64 overclocking board so far, reached 300 base "fsb") or the MSI K8N Neo-FSR board. The MSI board performed pretty well, and I was thinking it could 'probably' hit the cpu max also, since I'll just be using air cooling. I can buy the MSI board, that comes with HSF, for about $45 less than I can buy the OEM 3200+, DFI board, and venus 12. So, is it worth the extra money?

Thanks for any help.

Ooops, sorry. The one that comes as a combo (the MSI one) doesnt say, and the OEM one is a Newcastle. So lets just assume Newcastle for both of them.

I am running my A64 3200 @ 2.44, with stock cooling, and voltage. Idle temp is 35c, in D3 it gets up to 56c. One of these days, I will take the thermal pad off, and put on some AS, to see if I can add some voltage.
I'm pretty sure my chip could get close to 2.6 on air, but I dont want to take the chance.
