A7V IRQ problems!

I'm just about ready to give it up. On my A7V Win2K insists that my Video Card (a GeForce DDR), my SB Live! Plat., my 3com modem, my Intel NIC and my USB controllers are on the same IRQ: 9! I can't honestly say I have any idea at this point. In the BIOS I said it IS a PnP OS and it is NOT a PnP OS to no avail. My SBLive is in slot 3, my modem and NIC are in 4 and 5 (respectively). I enabled the extra USB ports. Does anyone have any idea how I can get it to use one of the other 6 free IRQ's? Thanks for any help!

Everyone with an ATX board experiences this. See the article with subject "IRQ 9" on one of the boards. It tells how to get everything on its own IRQ.

Hey CGaylon -

ya this one had me baffled for a bit as well. A few thoughts: Its best to use "standard pc" profile (i.e. DON'T do ACPI, profile is not in Win2000SP1 for A7V) for installation with A7V as our little pals at Microsoft still havent granted non-intel chipsets the right to exist. Therefor you MUST install Win2000 with PnP OFF. However as you have already installed its cake to fix:

1) say NO to Plug n Play OS in the A7V bios.
2) when your 2000 desktop comes back up stick in your 2000 cd to reinstall and select the "upgrade" rather than "clean install" option; all your settings and software will be saved, no stress (but I always back up to be safe).
3) when our now familer screen comes up asking for "scsi/ata driver" hit "F5".
4) eventually you'll be given the option for several types of manual configurations, select "standard pc"
5) have some coffee and let it finish.
6) when its done have a look at your system resources and watch the pretty irq distribution.
7) remember if all else fails read the 1400 page manual and hope the one you bought is more about installs than say networks:)

And I must say, it was so beautiful when I booted up and viewed resources by type. I saw all kinds of IRQ numbers showing up for my devices and only one was using 9. I nearly shed a tear... The solution really works, thanks a lot!

Um... what difference does it make to you if all devices are on the same IRQ? That's perfectly legal under PnP, and it works just fine.

There sure as hell ARE user servicable parts inside!
