A7v Sloooow Boot

I may have solved my IE5.5 Freezeups...time will tell...
Pulled my soundcard and tweeked the bios.
Another problem is the slow boots...hangs up on the windows splash screen for about 25 sec.then reverts to a black screen with a flashing..-..then the hourglass wait and then
windows boots up??any ideas???

Make sure you are using the latest bios 1005c.

do you have a network card in there that's not plugged into a lan?

What OS are you running? I know my Win2K is slow to boot too. I am not sure, but I think it has something to do with loading the Promise ATA-100 drivers wich Win2K won't fully support until SP2 (wich should come out soon).

maybe its you VIA chipset. AMD, SiS, ALi chipsets are more stable then any VIA chipset out.

i noticed that the winME boots a little faster than the win98se. try disabling memory check and make your hd the only boot option.
