i was wondering if i could change my amd a8 6600k with an amd a10 7870k if not what would be the best thing to upgrade to?

What's the rest of your system? That's a modest improvement and I don't think it is worth the cost unless you can get almost all of your A8 back.

i have a Gigabyte GA-F2A78M-D3H motherboard
8gb RAM
Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 ti

You have a discrete GPU. An AMD APU upgrade would be a complete waste. If you want a better CPU, consider the Athlon X4 860K, which is the CPU part of an A10 7870K, much cheaper. The motherboard is a bit light and not suitable for significant overclocking.
