I decided not to push my luck and try RAID.
From emails with ASUS and Maxtor it seems that ASUS had got the
DiamondMax 10 to run on the A8N-E with an earlier BIOS (maybe even the
release BIOS), but their drive appeared to be a newer firmware version
than mine. Maxtor weren't forthcoming with a firmware update, they
suggested getting a replacement from the vendor.
I think I'll leave it as is now and maybe wait until an official BIOS is
released, that way I can see what's in the BIOS release notes.
