A8N Sli "loud noises!!!"

This chipset fan in my board is driving me mental!!!!
I'm definately going to have to change it. I noticed though that the Asus P5ND2 doesn't have this piddly little fan on the Pentium Sli so maybe they don't run that hot after all?
Think I'd get away with a passive cooler or will I have to remove the fan from the cooler and try and mount a papst 40mm fan??

If the fan is easily replaced, replace it with a quieter one. A lot of boards can get by with passive coolers, but I prefer a slow speed fan.
