Yes,
Have built systems using AMD64 3800+ and another with FX 53, both rock
solid. The Promise RAID seems faster than the VIA RAID chip using 2 Seagate
120 gig SATA 8 meg cache. Have not overclocked nor needed to use the Wifi,
but did set it up and works great with my Linksys wireless router. I did get
a problem with a Nvidia 6800 Ultra card, real sluggish in 2D but this could
be due to non tuned drivers, I've also used an ATI X800 XT Platinum with
Catalyst 4.7...flawless on an Apple 23" widescreen LCD. Any other questions
feel free to ask. The A8V got great reviews everywhere I've seen.

i concur the A8V is getting positive reviews everywhere.

Seems the only real negative is the AGP/PCI lock for overclockers. From
hexus, "The contentious issue of S939 motherboard overclocking reared its
head here. We found it difficult to run past 220MHz, suggesting that VIA's
proclaimed AGP/PCI lock isn't quite as secure as NVIDIA's nForce3 250. We'd
also like a touch more voltage for system RAM. "

oh yeah:

1) network is on the PCI bus - another PCI device (sound card, controller,
etc.) can bring down lan performance

2) lacks native serial ata (requiring a floppy and "F6" drivers to install
windows)

Thanks all. I was kind of thinking of waiting to see some NF3-250
boards for a compare, but maybe it isn't that important (at least it
seemed that way for the 754 boards).

In the past it seemed like it was necessary to use a PCI sound card
rather than the onboard sound (for performance reasons, not sound
quality which isn't an issue for me). Is that still the case? The
reviews don't really seem to address this point, other than to describe
the formats and outputs available.

Scott, the sound of the onboard chip is very good. I do a lot of audiowork
so I added a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS. You don't need it for standard gaming
or other use.
