Hey, just wondering about pros/cons of the mb. Cause its Abit and I can get it for $150 AUD and it seems to have impressive stats

It seems to be a reasonable enough mobo, I just can't get excited over AM2 though as so far it offers little over 939.
If you can afford a bit more for your CPU look at Intel Core 2 Duo.

Yeh 939 is also my cup of tea but availability out here in the sun burnt lands is crap and id rather move to what the industry is supporting.

the only problem with buying a core 2 system is me wanting a 680i SLI setup to go with it. im trying to buy an inbetween system to satisfy me until i earn enough to grab a decent $3k AUD machine.

well, there's no getting away from the fact that a £110 C2D CPU outperforms a £110 AM2 CPU ...

the only problem with buying a core 2 system is me wanting a 680i SLI setup to go with it. im trying to buy an inbetween system to satisfy me until i earn enough to grab a decent $3k AUD machine.

If you're thinking about a 680i SLI setup then why not work upto it with a 650i SLI to start with?
The boards are cheap (~£75 in the UK), perform well & when you want to step up to a 680i you would only have to replace the mobo & not the CPU as well?

Yep, i know as much as it hurts my AMD love, Intel would definately be my choice at the moment, but im looking at a purely value based system. Basically dont want to buy a core of any price at the moment because i know im gonna replace it in the future anyway.

im not looking at buying absolute performance in fact i was gonna get a 7600 gt with this and a x2 4200.
this would allow me to buy a decent system to run most games at full settings @ 1280*960

from what I hear Oz gets shafted even more on things like PC components & cameras etc. than the UK does (& we're not cheap). 8O

Oh hell yes, man i get pissed off at that. maybe AMD and iNTEL should put fabs here in Aust then we could just walk to the factory and buy it wholesale.
