I just got a new Abit NF7-S Rev2 yesterday and tried to get the thing up and running. Well it's far from running, about the only thing running seem to the the fans.

I've come to this board to try and verify that I'm not just crazy and that I must have a bad board. When I turn the power on, I get nothing but fans coming on. No beeps, nothing on the monitor, no audio notifications. I removed 1 peice of hardware at a time to try and get it to run until I was just left with the CPU. To make sure the CPU was still ok I pluged it back into my old MB and it worked great! I also tried 2 different GFX cards. I've cleared the CMOS a couple of times and replaced the jumper back to the original place before turning on power.

Here's what I've got...

ABit NF7-S Rev2
2600+ AMD XP (Barton)
ATI 9800 Pro (nVidia GeForce4 4400 as back up to test...)
1GB Samsung PC2700
430 W Antec PS
(assume the HD,CD,DVD info doesn't matter since I cant even get to the BIOS screen!)

I'd appreciate any helpful advice! Thanks!

Is the psu a known good unit? If not try it on your other system, or the other psu on the nf7.

Have you tried the mobo out of the case to eliminate a short to the case as a problem?

If you've got it out of the case with the known good cpu and vid card and still won't post, see if the mobo will give the proper beep code for no ram etc.

Of course, do the usual and double check wiring, reseat vid card and ram and check your jumpers again.

Barton 2500+
Abit NF7-S v 2.0
Maxtor 60GB ATA 133 7200RPM
512MB Corsair Twinx 3200LL
9600 Pro
Enermax Noisetaker 420 watts
Win98SE

The PSU works fine. It work great before the upgrade and when I retested my CPU with the old MB. I only have 1 PSU so I cant test the NF7 with another one.

I will take the MB out of the case tongiht and make sure there isnt a short. think I spent 3 hours last night double checking wires, installing, removing hardware, reinstalling...never once heard a beep.

I'm reporting back from my up and running NF7-S. And lets just say I feel like a tool! I was shorting out the MB with it installed in the case. My old ASUS MB had an extra metal standoff that was conveniently placed under the CPU of the Abit. It worked perfectly out of the case on a cardboard box!

Removed the standoff and everything is up and running great, cant wait to run some benches and see what this puppy can do!

Thanks everyone for the help and advice.
