Abit VP6 problem...

Hello,
My friend and I are building a new computer together. We have been having trouble getting our 2nd Cel 733 (66MHz x 11) detected on the Abit VP6 mobo. Sofar only 1 is detected no mater what we do, we have even tried switching them around.
I fear after reading in the manual that there is zero mention of Celeron's (except from what I see from BIOS screen shots) of any kind running on the board. I noticed the screen shots running the Celeron on it, but I do not see any info about the Celeron in SMP mode.

Also, in an unrelated side note, I can't seem to get passed the RAID driver install of Win2K (the part that ask's "Press F6 to install and SCSI or RAID device"). I install the drivers provided from the "HotROD" disk and the screen flickers... then the HD loads for a sec or too... then it locks up! I have tried shutting off the RAID mode and even shut off the entire 2nd ATA 100 controller, but to no benifishial end result. What am I doing wrong, Win98 installed strangely without a hitch (this supised me a LOT, I dispise win9x/me). I am going to test some other cofigurations tonight, like running my HD's on just the RAID controller... funky stuff like that. This is starting to anoy me!

I dont think the FC-PGA Celerons are SMP capable. The VP6 is intended for P3's that can run SMP. As for the raid control issue on win2k setup. You dont need to install the control if you are only going to run one drive. The install should pick up the hard drive on the primary control because it is run by the bios. the secondary control is run by a chip on the motherboard, basically a onboard version on a pci card. As for the dual celerons the only time that i have heard of that working is on Abits bp6 board and those are only for the older PPGA celerons that run up to 533Mhz stock clocked. I would check out www.BP6.com they are also testing out the vp6 and have lots of info on them.

I just checked BP6.com and they too had problems getting 2 celerons working on a VP6. They tried both the FC-PGA type that you have and the older PPGA celerons. Neither worked, but they said to try new bioses from abits site. Also check out www.vp6.net, it is run by the same people that do www.bp6.com, they worship these boards and seem to know quite a bit about them.

Thanks alot man, I will keep these websites in mind...

I have already sent back the 2 cpu's and ordered a single PIII-733. As for the Win2K install, I think the board is bad, cause I have tried installing with the controller enabled/disabled. If I'm lucky I can get a blue screen. I have tried verious cache configureation in the order of enabling/disabling (and every combo in between). Also I have tried multiple CDROM types/venders, along with different harddrives.

Well today, I have goton the PIII-733, now the mobo wont power up at all. I think the mobo is bad.
