Hello,

i just build a system with an i5-9400F and tried to cinebench it. / using cinebench r20

im getting a score of 2127 pts - while i see other people are getting 2300+ pts.

anyone know what could cause this? i have a big fan cooler on it.

Thanks!

That temp seems more than ok.

And memory shouldnt be an issue either.

Whats the speed of the CPU while benchamrking is running (usually it should stabilize around a 100MHz diference) ? For example, my Ryzen 3600 usually boost (all cores to) between 4025MHz and 4075MHz while runing Cinebench R20 (all core test).

I check this using hwinfo portable 64 bits (Only Sensors option) right next to the Cinebench windows

I believe the Core i5 9400F should boost all 6 cores to around 3.9GHz while runinig something like Cinebench, as long as the temps are ok.

Always take published benchmark scores with a grain of salt. First off, most people won't flaunt 'bad' scores so a lot of what you are seeing online is the top 1%. Secondly, some benchers go to extremes to eke out just a few more points.

With Cinebench open, go to task manager - details. Find the Cinebench executable. R-click - set priority - realtime. Run Cinebench. You won't see it progress but be patient. Once it completes you'll get your score and it should be ~5% higher than your previous highest. (this is just one of the dozen or so things benchers do to get those numbers) 😉

Note: don't normally run apps at 'realtime' priority. It can cause stability/corruption issues.
