About the intel i5 4690k

I was told if i wanted to overclock my pc i should be getting an intel i5 4690k, but the store (best buy) didn't hold them. Would an intel i5 4690k still work good with my pc even if i wasn't going to "overclock" ? i have a gtx 970 for my graphics card and wwas gonna replace my amd a10 6700 with the intel i5 4690k

It works fine without overclock but you will need a new Intel socket lga 1150 board for it!
