So I am nearing of building my pc ( on Monday ) So while looking for parts online, I thought of using an G3258/i3 4170 paired with the 950/960 for a gaming build. Since ddr3 is about to go ( I guess? ), I may build with cheap/good hardware, especially the processor and then just upgrade 1.5-2 years after. What do you think? should I go with this or go with the 4590-950/960 setup.

Thanks in advance guys!

The i5-4460 would be a good choice imo. The G3258 is only dual-core...its not too good for gaming. Don't get me wrong, the G3258 is a good cpu for its price, but you might be disappointed by its performance.

Go with the 960 and then at least the i3 4170. Personally I would go with the 4590 but the 4170 should easily be enough. Don't go with the G3258.. it's a great CPU, it's overclocking potential is great! but it's going to be pretty outdated with the standards games are moving in to, and you want at least 4 cores for any modern gaming. As the guy above me said, you'll be disappointed. The i3 4170 or (preferably) i5 4460 will be great tho!

I have a GTX 960 paired with a G3258 @ 4.5 Ghz (typing this from it right now). I also have another PC with an i5 4590 and while its better for gaming than the Pentium (using the same GTX 960) its not like an "OMG this is soooo much better!" experience. Its just slightly smoother in CPU intensive games. That does not take away from what a great buy the Pentium is if you intend to over clock it to the max. $70 for a CPU than can match a $180-$190 i5 in many of today's games (or at least give it a solid run for its money) is pretty amazing.

I haven't had the pentium so I can't testify but what I have heard from almost everyone who's had it and overclocked it is that even overclocked it still does not rank up to the i5. It's just different architecture. Again. while the Pentium is a great card and you can go with it if you want, I'd probably recommend at least an i3 or i5, especially as things advance and multiple cores/threads become more important and useful.

Agreed. For GPU, go with the Geforce GTX 960 or if you can find one at a similar price, the Radeon R9 280x. For CPU, go with the cheapest (but check the reviews and ratings first) i3/i5 that you can find.. I would recommend the i5 4460 if you can. :)
