[SOLVED] AC Power Cord

Are all AC power cords the same? My friend sent me a power supply to use but he didn’t include the power cord. Would one from a past monitor work for example? 120volts? Are pretty much all AC power cords 120volts?

This is the product.

I just found a monitor one that says it’s 125volts, does that mean I can’t use it?

They're not all the same. They have different gauges to support different loads. One that's made for a monitor may not be able to support the heavier load a PC puts on the mains.

Don't look at the voltage. You look at the gauge.

So what I would want is 14g and not 18g?
