Access Denied after MS updates

In a moment of stupidity I allowed MS to do automatic updates on my Win 7/64 PC. I've never done that before, never will again! When I shut the PC down that night, it installed more than 200 updates. Now, it won't let me run Doom 3. I get an Access Denied box that says - "Please login with Administrator privileges and try again". My user account has admin privilege and I tried logging on as Admin and got the same results. I used properties on the Doom 3 Folder to verify I had full control and also made myself Creator Owner with Full Control with no change. Any suggestions, please?
