Question Accessing Modem Line Stats When in Transparent/Bridge Mode?

I have a ZyXEL C1100Z modem/router combo. Connected to CenturyLink 40Mbps connection speed on VDSL2. Works great in transparent mode with an old router I have, a Belkin N750. One thing I am stumped about though is how can I see line stats at the C1100Z like I used to when using it as a modem/router combo? Only thing I can get into using a browser at the moment is the Belkin router, but it doesn't show line stats like SNR, attenuation, retrains, etc.

Both of these devices have a USB port. Someone at another forum said I need to set up a static IP on my PC and change adapter settings instead of obtaining an IP address automatically then connect the PC to one of the C1100Z LAN ports, but then I have to switch it back in order to use the Internet again. That's a lot of work just to see line stats! Plus, it doesn't seem to work (unless I'm doing it wrong). Anyone have a fix?

There's really no way to get into the C1100Z stats through the Belkin N750 router?

Here's how you do this. I'm using Windows 7:

Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center

Choose "Change adapter settings" on the left

Right click on the icon for the ethernet adapter (Local Area Connection).

Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4

Click Properties.

On the General Tab, Check "Use the following IP address automatically."

If you're modem is accessible in a browser at http://192.168.0.1 (and most are), Enter IP address 192.168.0.2

Click in the field for the Subnet mask, and it should automatically fill in 255.255.255.0

No need to enter Default gateway or DNS server address, so leave these. Click OK, close the windows.

Now, the ethernet cable connected from the PC to the router needs to be switched to the modem. Connect to one of the 4 LAN ports (not the WAN/LAN port used to connect the modem to the router).

Open a browser, type in http://192.168.0.1 as you would normally do to see modem setup pages, and you should be able to access your line stats.

*Note this process will make you lose your Internet connection, and the process needs to be reversed in order to get back online.
