Hey all, I just bought an Acer Aspire E11 last month and the first few was no hassle. It was running smooth and fine but the past few days its been running real slow. I mean painstakingly slow. Can someone help? Not much of a techie here.

Intel Celeron N2840
2GB DDR3 L Memory
320 GB HDD

Thanks ya'll!

Well, we need to know what operating system you are running as well as what programs you are using. What we need to do is get into "task manager", but to get there can differ based on the o.s. Second, make sure it is not trying to update. Post back with a few more details, we should be able to see what is going on.

Okay, I'm running on Windows 8.1. And I just do normal girl stuff browsing using google chrome. Just facebook and youtube. But many times when I try to check out other websites like this one, tomshardware, it can be very slow and the letters don't come up as I try to type them. Also, the not responding thingy on the tab of the website shows up many times when I dont even have that many tabs on my browser. I tried to defrag like what my friends told me but its still very slow. I'll try to change the settings for automatic updates like what you said :)

Hmm..I am not sure here, I am kind of leaning towards internet connection speed (especially if on Wi-Fi). My next question would be, is the computer left on? Or, are you trying the browser right after you start it? Sometimes it takes a minute or two to "settle" down. How long had it been on when you are experiencing the problem?

I'm pretty sure it's not with the internet connection because on my friend's laptop its pretty fine. I also let this netbook "settle" down after I turn it on. Whenever I try to open different programs like MS word, or when I try to open the control panel it takes too long to open. And its the same with other programs.

Hello, sorry to not get back with you sooner as I was on vacation. I see no one else has commented on your post. Post back if you are still having the issue. I would like to know what type of anti-virus you have (if any). If you are running norton or a protection program similar, disable it. See if this speeds things up. I use kaspersky and it does not turn my system into molasses. There is nothing wrong with norton, so to speak, but it is extremely "heavy". Let me know
