My question has been up for over a week now and probably lost in the archives! Would anyone please be able to give me some advice? Muchas gracias!!!
I'm hoping someone can help me. I have as Acer Aspire x3400 that I am trying to restore to factory settings. It's become a bit slow and laggy and I'm sure I've got a virus or two as Firefox is glitchy, has loads of pop ups and unresponsive scripts etc. I keep getting a window on start up trying to run a program I don't know as well (ic-0.ceb0ea6ae2f32.exe). Anyway I just want to clean the whole system and start from scratch. All my data is backed up on external hard drives.
I've tried Advanced Recovery Tools which have 'Failed To Run' and System Image Recovery from my system repair disk which Windows can't find. I also used Acer's eRecovery Tools (both Back Up and Restore) and it says that my hard drive configuration is not set to factory default. I also tried Alt+F10 on start up, entered 000000 and was greeted with NAPP_KM:NAPP7.exe Application Error - The exception unknown software exception (0xc000000d) occured in the application at location 0x1006489.
I'm not at all techy I'm afraid, so I have no idea what this means. I have restored my PC a couple of times before, so I'm not sure what has changed and why I can't wipe it clean this time. I've looked online for answers and have read something about entering BIOS and booting from another partition, but I'm none the wiser unfortunately.
Any help would be gratefully received as I'm getting a bit frustrated now!!
