First, I'm a bit confused. Isn't the 1800 a laptop?
Check eBay and see if someone has just the mobo used. You may find a good deal.
If it is a laptop, you'll need the exact board (or one NEARLY identical).
Also, changing out the board on a laptop isn't exactly easy, and I wouldn't attempt it if you've never done it and don't have a fair amount of experience taking apart computers and small electronics.
If its a desktop, do you mean the x1800?
A quick glance showed boards for either were around $80 plus shipping. Maybe more or less depending on where you go. Much cheaper than a whole new computer.
Last thought... How do you know it's the board and not something else?
BadPeteNo,
you are correct, I did mean the x1800 for a desktop. I'm not a computer genius or anything, but a couple of months ago, my computer was knocked accidentally and I suddenly got a blue screen saying something about wiping my computer (don't know exact wording) but I panicked and pulled the power source immediately. Wen a friend looked at it, he showed me 2 wires (I think called SATA) where the plastic part of the connections were chipped and couldn't stay connected. So I purchased the new cable pieces I needed, and as I was attempting to replace them into the computer's motherboard, some of the small pins ended up bent and snapped off. So that's the reason why I felt I should ask advice from someone who really knows computers before I bought anything from ebay or elsewhere. AND, if I do need a new motherboard, I wouldn't know if I'm ordering the correct piece or now. I do somewhat know my was around a computer, but I will never try to do anything with Dos or things like that...
Thanks for your help again
