Correct me if I'm wrong but, wouldn't android be the more viable option for google pcs rather than Crome os? As far as I know crome os is very limited to basic functions, that's not to say it can't improve but as it stands now android is closer to windows in functionality. It can do mostly everything a windows pc can, minus high end gaming. What's the point in Crome os, over android?

Chrome OS is aimed at promoting cloud computing and HTML 5.

27' touchscreen AIO for $1099 MSRP is not expensive, nor is $699 for 21.5".

Just need Samsung's Windowing/Multitasking to Android and get away from the awful fullscreen backward tech.

Tell that to Microsoft, they think full screen on the desktop is the future lol.

This wouldn't be too bad for a primarily entertainment oriented PC, but I think the specs are a little underwhelming for the price.

For those of you asking about Chrome OS, it has very little in common with Android. They serve two very different purposes.

I really don't see the appeal or practicality in having a 27" Android-based AIO, especially at $700-$1100. All that real estate wasted on fullscreen apps that probably look terrible at the DPI needed for that screen. Waving your arms around the entire time surely would get tired as well...

Android is a terrible OS outside of the mobile space anyways - buyer's remorse on me for buying a Transformer Prime thinking it could have been a laptop replacement.

No,its a huge overpriced android tablet. Looks great, until you try to use it for the only thing you can do on it,browse the web. (ok,you can play angry birds). When you try to browse the web,you will find that most force feed you the mobile version when they see an android user agent. On top of that, while its true html 5 is in fact better than flash, pretty much the whole damn web uses flash,so if you dont have it,the web is just broken for you. Its a worthless waste of money. I hope they put an intel chip in it,and a decent one for that price, and I hope someone figures out a way to get a decent boot-loader that can load windows. Actually though,it WILL be able to load linux in all likelihood,so that should help. Still would not pay a grand for it.

Have you priced a 27in 1440p monitor? The lowest Acer on newegg is $500 (and I wouldn't buy anything below that, junk from korea is not my thing).

A good 17in windows tablet (HP etc) is $900 (750m, i5 top end etc). My dad's nexus 10 was $500. So nearly 3x bigger, not so bad at $1100 even if I wish it was $900. Wait for the shine to wear off and you get it for $900 in summer probably ($700 at xmas probably when T5 takes it's spot and they start dumping this model). Though I would wait for T5 which should be out by then anyway. It doubles as a 27in monitor for windows also. I do think it should be 64GB though for this price, but that's only about $100 off to me which is the premium for devices these days for new stuff. 780TI is about $100 to expensive too, but you pay to be on top, get better games, better drivers etc. Is there another 27in AIO android for less? If no then this is the right price until they stop selling for $1100 :) If they sell out in the first week (day?) you could argue they sold too cheap.

Then again nexus 10 hasn't dropped a penny in a year...LOL.

http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/models/allinones/ta
Win8, 27in, AIO with Intel i7-3630QM, 8GB+1TB HD...$1700. So $600 more when you replace it with WINTEL + HD+8GB (about a $100 here total? so mostly Wintel). If you don't need windows, saving $600 isn't that bad. If you think $1100 is expensive you must think this Wintel version is ridiculous right?

ROFL, Android has progressed far beyond Angry Birds now and you can load an older version of flash. Also a quick google shows you how to LIE to websites and look like a desktop (apps will do this for you, for firefox or chrome on mobile). I don't see the "mobile" versions of websites unless I want to on my dad's nexus 10. Google something like "how stop android mobile redirect" or "bypass mobile websites" or "user agent switcher" etc. I figured this out in under an hour with no android experience at all. Boom, problem solved. You know what an agent is, but not how to switch it? Spoken like a person who doesn't research :) Browse the web, email and games is about all 90% of us do anyway. Samsung is shipping their next phones with gamepads. For some this can double as a TV too (space is a problem for many). I could go on but we're already past browsing & angry birds here.

I wrote this below for someone ages ago (below list, like 8 months ago or so). I could add many more to the list now that are better as unreal 3 is getting used more now. This is just the beginning. I guess you don't look at googleplay much :) We now have Asphalt 8 coming, modern combat 5 etc (go watch a vid of modern combat 5 and tell me that's angry birds...ROFLMAO). Games being made now will be aimed at T4+ for next xmas as they know the power is upped YEARLY and the top end alone sells 50-100mil units. T4i/S600 will be low end in 3 months as T4i is aimed at $100-200 phones, and T5 etc is nearing and S600 is already in $200-300 phones etc. You can aim just there and have an audience you don't find on consoles for 5 more years which is why they will die soon and game devs have left according to GDC 2013. Watch for even MORE to head to mobile, I expect 65%+ making games for moblie vs. 2013 GDC saying 60% - GDC2014 in 3 months, also expect consoles to have under 10% of devs making games for them vs. ~15% or less last year. The other 1.2B tablets/phones that sell each year now will be able to play your "high end" game one year later as the high moves to the low as always and is replaced (this time by T5, S800 replacements, etc etc). That is 6x the size of the ENTIRE console audience combined that will probably sell between MS/Sony/Nin over the next 7yrs of their life cycles (about 280mil units in 7yrs combined last gen).

As I noted before, they already have a WINTEL version and it's $1700. Go buy one of those :) One size doesn't fit all. The market will dictate if it's overpriced or not. Clearly surface 1 was, as they wrote down 900mil...LOL - if it's overpriced it will end up as a write down here too, though Surface 1 was UN-sellable to me at any price. RT sucks.

If the links don't work just search the game name on googleplay.

$650 Acer 27in touch with lower 1080p res. So looking further into this $1100 isn't sounding so bad no matter how I look at it.

Then again, it should be lower considering newegg has the Wintel model I mentioned which seems to be $400 off at $1300. I'm guessing newegg will sell this for under $1000 and that Wintel model has a 32GB SSD in it too (on top of the 1TB)....Hmmm...But only 1080p, so not the same model as I quoted before I guess. I'd probably just buy a $1000 laptop with 750m and a monitor instead but that's just me and how I use my devices. I will be interested in the next rev or Denver version which already seems Q4 or Q1 2015. If I'm going to spend a grand, it will be for far more power.

Nexus wasn't bad at $500 for my dad, but for me to spend double I want the things I hate about his nexus fixed. It had far too low gpu for 1600p (Nothing on the market has the guts for this in games yet in mobile), I want 4GB+ mem, 64GB storage (or more I hope 128GB coming next xmas for high-end), etc etc. I want the device that will grow with a few more revs of android as it becomes far more useful than now, at least at $1000. At $500 I can replace every 2yrs without crying (maybe yearly and toss the old to kids, other family etc), but at $1000+ I probably want it to last 3-4yrs. I also want a more functional OS first. Android treats me like Win8, where I feel like they think I'm retarded and they need to hide everything from me or I'll break it. Quit making me dig for things that should be front and center (at least after I check a box or something saying I'm not retarded...LOL). People need to realize, for some pricing is NOT an issue at all and thank god for them or we would never get great tech for the masses for ages.
