Hey everyone. I just bought a new monitor (Acer KG251QF), was looking forward to trying out 144Hz as my old monitor is only 75Hz.
However the max refresh rate i can select is 120Hz. I'm hoping you guys can help me out here!
I am using the DVI Dual Link cable which came with the monitor.

Specs;
I5-8400
Asus Prime B360M-K
GTX 970 4GB "Black Edition".
16GB DDR4 RAM.

Cheers.

Solution

Try setting a custom resolution. (see Section 6.3.1 here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3675170/connect-120-display-construction.html#20840975)

If you are trying to set the refresh rate from the NVIDIA control panel, make sure you select the resolution from the "PC" section of the list.

Thanks for the quick reply! I only have the "PC" option in Nvidia Controlpanel. I also tried changing the refresh rate in Windows Display settings but i run into the same issue.

If you're able to set 144 Hz, then it should be working. But if you really want to, there are steps for verifying 120+ Hz operation in Section 6.2 in the link I posted earlier.
