I am looking for the best monitor that I can get. I am using a Titan X Pascal Video card. I would love to have 4k for gaming but wanted to get everyones thoughts on what I should do. I love the X34 I think it looks sexy to be honest. Just wondering if there is going to be a big difference between either 34" and the 27" Predator? I would also like to be able to play my xbox one on this as well if possible. If you guys were me and are looking for stunning images, a reliable monitor and great frames rates and an overall fantastic display. Which would you guys pick and why? I am looking at buying within the next couple of hours. Any help would be great! I will also need a good Displayport cable to go with either of these monitors if you could give me some input there as well.

Solution

the x34 comes with a displayport 1.2 cable, but the hdmi 2.0 has more bandwidth. if u r facing any issues u can upgrade to hdmi 2.0

yeah sorry, the z1 is 1080p. the z35 would suit u better with ur pascal 😉

Why would that be a better option without it having 4K? I mean don't get me wrong I would LOVE to have 4K but the prices for a larger screen are just crazy. So is 4K really that big of a deal right now? The other monitors are all 2K which if I am right is just 1080P

the x34 is indeed 2k, but its refresh rate is just 100hz. ur pascal card can pump in more than that(which causes screen tearing and stuttering). if u dont want a curved display then there r many choices. i was basing the models to curved displays.

2k monitors are basically 1440p. 4k gaming monitors arent just there yet. if u want the ultimate gaming experience i would suggest a 3 monitor surround setup. OMG the experience !!!!!

for games and that too with a titan x pascal, the important factor is refresh rate, then comes resolution. how would u feel if u get screen tearing in ur x34 while gaming? it will ruin the exprience for u.

that's y a multi monitor surround setup is even more better. consider 3 of these monitors https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160226&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= in portrait mode. just a surreal immersive experience !

P.S.: actually, u cant go wrong with either of them. if u r a fps gamer(like cs go) then go for z35. if u enjoy games in general, go for x34. but for a hardcore gamer, 144hz multi monitor trumps the predator models 😉

I have narrowed it down to these monitors

And the X34
Your thoughts please

The monitor doesn't support HDMI 2.0 so using HDMI limits you to 3440x1440 @50hz. Also, Gsync only works via display port. Using the included display port cable is the only way to use Gsync and the 100hz refresh rate of the monitor.

go for the x34 for the single monitor setup, u wont regret it :bounce:

I did pick the Asus PG348Q.

Why: It has 100hz support.

No regrets. I have more image to look at, rather than just more dots. It's a big monitor though. It takes up a lot of desk space and to be honest the monitor stand is total impractical for most desks. I've wall mounted mine and its simply awesome then.

2K is far different than 1080p, really these 34" displays (the good ones) run a resolution of 3440x1440. Myself and a lot of people I talk to consider 2K to be 2560x1440 16:9. But since the 34's are 21:9 they are very close visually to 2560x1440. Both are a huge step up from 1080p, and 4K is a step up as well. Typically if my display is <25" I run 1920x1080-16:9, if its 27"-30" I run 2560x1440-16:9. If its >30" I run either 3440x1440-21:9, 3840x1600-21:9 or 3840x2160-16:9(4K). If gaming is a concern remember anything above 2560x1440 will be hard to get HZ over 100, 4K may as well be capped at 60hz for now. For gaming Id run 2560x1440 27" at =>144hz or if money is no issue the display in question, the ASUS Designo Curved MX34VQ 34" or ASUS PG348Q 34", all running at 3440x1440 at 100 hz.(through DisplayPort). I hope this clears some things up for some people.
