Question Acer Predator XB272

I purchased this monitor some time ago. It came with a usb type b cable. I can't for the life of me figure what it is used for. I have checked the user manual, it barely acknowledges it. The manual just says "optional". What is it's purpose?

It'll enable you to use the two USB ports on the side of the monitor when you plug one end of the cable into the monitor and the other end into your computer.
